Update on CPA Preparatory Course Assessments: Delivery and Schedule 2021

By CPAWSB
Jul 22, 2021
The CPA profession remains committed to keeping you on track in your journey to becoming a CPA. In light of the ongoing impacts of COVID-19, the profession is implementing changes to the 2021 Semester 1 to Semester 4 CPA preparatory course assessments.

The assessments for Semester 1 to Semester 4 will be delivered remotely and not in-person at exam writing centres. The assessments will be administered through Brightspace (D2L), written at home or another remote location using students’ computers. If you are planning to write an assessment in Semesters 1 through 4, ensure that you have:
  • reliable Internet access
  • word processor (i.e. “.docx” format) and spreadsheet (i.e. “.xlsx” format) applications installed on your computer
  • the hardware, operating, software, and other computer requirements specified in the Learning management system and computer requirements section of the CPA Canada Preparatory Courses Student Guide
To minimize conflicts for students writing multiple assessments during this evaluation period, the dates for the assessments for Semester 1 to Semester 4 have been revised. Please review the updated 2021 schedule posted here on the CPAWSB website for assessment dates and deadlines.

If you are registered for an upcoming exam, you will receive further information on the assessment format that will be used for your particular course closer to the assessment dates.

Please note the revised assessment format and schedule is for the Semester 1 to Semester 4 assessments only. At this time, the format for the Semester 5 exams has not been determined and the current exam schedule remains in effect. We will provide you with more information on the format for the Semester 5 assessments as soon as it has been determined.

We are committed to keeping you informed of updates as we continue to adapt to this unprecedented situation. Please review the regularly-updated FAQ document on the CPA Canada website for valuable information that addresses students’ concerns related to the profession’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including meeting practical experience requirements, conditional admission for courses, and much more.

Thank you for your resilience, patience, and flexibility as we all adjust to this ever-evolving situation. We continue to wish you well in your studies.
