CPA Preparatory Courses Marks Release – What should I do now?

Congratulations! You’ve just written your final exam!

You may not be sure about what happens next. We’re here to answer some questions that you may have.

Can I register for my next course while I’m waiting for my final grade?

Yes. Marks release for CPA preparatory courses happens after the registration deadline for the next semester, so you need to conditionally register in the next course while your marks are pending. We encourage you to register in your preferred courses before the registration deadline to ensure that you receive timely access to your course materials. A listing of redesigned and non-redesigned core preparatory courses is available on the CPAWSB website.

Marks release day

Core courses: Shortly after the grade release, we will email you instructions to register for a rewrite exam (if applicable). If you were unsuccessful and are looking to appeal your final exam grade, please contact [email protected] for more information on the remark process. The deadline for remark requests is three business days following marks release day.

You have successfully passed your core CPA preparatory course if you received a final course grade of 60 percent or higher (non-redesigned core courses also require an exam grade of at least 50 percent).

You have not passed your core CPA preparatory course if your final course grade is 60 percent or higher, but your exam grade is less than 50 percent (applicable to non-redesign core courses), or your final course grade is between 50 and 59 percent. However, you qualify for a rewrite exam in the next semester if you have not already used your rewrite attempt for your course. You have three attempts at each CPA preparatory course, and exam rewrites count as an attempt. More information about the core course rewrite option can be found in our Student Guide.

If your final course grade is 49 percent or lower, you have not successfully passed your core CPA preparatory course and can register to retake the course if you have remaining attempts. Please see our website for the course offering schedule.

Core Course Prerequisites

If you have not been successful in passing Intermediate Financial Reporting 1, Intermediate Financial Reporting 2, Corporate Finance, or Intermediate Management Accounting and you are registered in a subsequent course in the next semester; we will withdraw you from your subsequent course registration with a full refund to your original method of payment on the day grades are released.

I’m conditionally enrolled in CPA PEP

If you are unsuccessful on your last preparatory course and are enrolled in CPA PEP. In that case, you are required to register yourself into the next course/exam offering by that offering’s applicable registration deadlines to maintain your registration in CPA PEP. If you fail to register, you will automatically be withdrawn from CPA PEP and will be required to complete your outstanding preparatory courses before you can enroll in CPA PEP.

Non-core Courses

If your grade is 50 percent or higher: You have successfully passed your non-core CPA preparatory course.

If your grade is 49 percent or lower: You have not successfully passed your non-core CPA preparatory course and can register to retake the course. Please see our website for the course offering schedule

Please note students who are unsuccessful in their first attempt at a non-core course may apply for a course repeat at a reduced fee of $310 plus GST for their second attempt.

More information about the non-core course repeat option can be found in our Student Guide.

Non-core Prerequisite Courses

If you have not been successful in passing Introductory Financial Accounting or Introductory Management Accounting and you are enrolled in a core course in the subsequent semester, we will withdraw you from your core course registration with a full refund to your original method of payment on the day grades are released.
