All 14 prerequisite courses must be completed either as part of your undergraduate degree or additional prerequisite courses taken through CPA preparatory courses or a recognized post-secondary institution.
The Academic Prerequisites Guide below outline the recognized prerequisite course equivalents offered by publicly recognized post-secondary institutions in Western Canada, which are required for entry into the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP).
The CPA Academic Prerequisites Guide is reviewed annually. However, when assessing transcripts, CPAWSB grants exemption according to the requirements in place when a course(s) was taken, provided the course(s) meets the currency of education and grade requirements for CPA PEP admission.
Courses completed before CPA PEP was launched in 2013 are assessed according to the 2013 CPA Academic Prerequisites Guide or recognized equivalencies, provided they meet the 10-year currency of education policy for core prerequisites.
Applicants who receive exemptions based on previous years’ academic prerequisites guide might have knowledge gaps and are encouraged to fill those gaps. Self-study materials are available after CPA PEP admission; applicants are responsible for ensuring they have the knowledge required to support successful completion of the CPA PEP requirements.
