MOU Experience Review

This information is for candidates who were deemed eligible for the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CPA Canada. 

At CPAWSB, International Experience Verification for MOU candidates is completed by the Practical Experience Review Committee (PERC). PERC will assess and determine whether your experience meets the requirements.

MOU Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP)

To receive a practical experience exemption under the MOU with Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP), you must have

  • Two (2) years post-designation accounting-related work experience, and a recognized university degree, or
  • Five (5) years post-designation accounting-related work experience. 

If you don’t meet these requirements, you can either wait until you obtain them and apply for the experience assessment or have a full review of your pre- and post-designation international experience toward the 30-month requirement.

An up-to-date resume is required, outlining all your relevant work experience, Canadian and International. Please ensure exact dates are listed for your employment positions. 

Third-Party Degree Verification

Optional

This document is needed for a review under the two (2) years post-designation experience with a degree. If you have over five (5) years of experience, no submission is required, even if you hold a degree.

Once you submit all required documents to [email protected]. Your file will be taken to the next PERC meeting (occurs once every 2 months) and a decision will be made and communicated to you via email shortly afterward.

MOU Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)

To receive the CPA PEP exemption on practical experience under the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) MOU, you must

  • have two (2) years of post-designation accounting-related work experience, and  
  • hold a recognized university degree. 

If you don’t meet these requirements, you can either wait until you obtain them or have a full review of your pre- and post-designation international experience toward the 30-month requirement.
